It is not necessary or required that the Standalone and AddIn are both concurrent versions. GCD standalone is available as a 64 bit application only. ArcGIS Data Store is part of ArcGIS for Server they both support the same operating systems and browsers. Therefore, if you just want to build a GCD project quickly and don’t care about seeing the data displayed in ArcGIS, or you want to use a different GIS package such as QGIS to visualize GIS datasets, then the standalone might be a good choice for you. The only difference is that the standalone does not possess any map display. The GCD standalone software is a fully functional version of GCD that can be used to create projects, specify DEM surveys and perform change detections etc. We also recommend that you have the latest service pack installed. Most academic institutions have ArcGIS licenses. Grad students, if you want a version for your research, it can be acquired for free through USU Software Licensing ( ). As students, you are entitled to a free one-year student license of ArcGIS for installation on your personal computer (see here for details). Although the lab computers can work, we highly recommend you working off your own laptop (if you have one). The Quinney Labs all have ArcGIS 10.3.1 installed on them. We will primarily use ESRI’s ArcGIS 10 Desktop (ArcInfo version with all extensions), which is available for your use on all the Q元04 and Q元06 machines.
